The moment I tried the Sambal Ijo dip, my first words were that “It tastes like Bandung!”. This was even before I read the labelling and confirmed that true enough - Irvins had re-created the traditional Indonesian Sambal Ijo.
From not being back in Indonesia for years, a huge sense of nostalgia and extreme excitement washed over me when I tasted the dip - IT WAS SO SO GOOD and I couldn’t stop raving about it. Just ONE taste, and it had the ability to bring me back to eating Indonesian food in Bandung, which I had not visited since pre-Covid! Incredible! Spot on.
